Obama’s Failed Policies Are Costing Americans Money | Ed Butowsky (by Ed Butowsky)

Inflation Numbers Flat For Second Straight Month

In the month of July gas prices crept up an average of $0.31 per gallon. Gas in general is a major component that runs through the blood stream of the American economy. As gas prices go up it causes a ripple affect across the economy in goods and services that rise proportionately. While we all know the affect of gas prices on what we buy and do everyday, the government has stated in recent reports that there is no inflation at the consumer level. It is certainly clear that not to be the case. Ed Butowsky, wealth manager, financial advisor, and managing partner of Chapwood Investment Management, joins Fox Business’ Varney & Company to debate the fact that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) that the Government reports is incorrect and the Ed’s Chapwood Index proves to be much more realistic in terms of reporting the REAL cost of living increase.

The oil refinery fire in California sent gas prices through the roof. The good news is that analysts do not think we will see $4 per gallon at the pump. However, if you mix together the high gas prices, crippling drought driving up food prices, and the crummy economy you have a recipe for what is called stagflation. Ed Butowsky, wealth manager, financial advisor, and managing partner of Chapwood Investment Management, joins Fox News to help viewers understand what is stagflation and how it affects the economy.

Why Gas Prices Are Falling Now

Just in time for the holiday weekend a break for you at the pump. The national average for a gallon of regular gas falling a nickel from last week $3.67. While that’s $0.40 higher than drivers paid at the beginning of the year it still a far cry from the fears of $5.00 per gallon that some analysts predicted for the summer. Ed Butowsky, wealth manager, financial advisor, and managing partner of Chapwood Investment Management, joins Fox News to discuss whether the relief at the pump this holiday weekend (Memorial Day weekend) is a good thing and what can consumers expect for the rest of the summer months.
